The BC Gateways are competitions in 3 parts, designed to be fun for newcomers to the sport of Competition Carriage Driving and for other, more experienced, drivers.
- Compulsory Shapes (to be used for all classes) Like dressage, you will drive a pattern of 10 movements in trot, walk and halt and will be judged on Rhythm, Suppleness and Contact. The test can be ‘called’ by your groom. Areana ia 40 x 80
- Cones. Between 10 and 15 pairs of cones will be set out for you to drive through in number order, keeping ‘red on the right’.
- Obstacles. Two obstacles will be driven twice as part of the competition.

Class 1 = Gateway Newcomers. Entries will be accepted from singles and pairs as long as they have not competed at Intermediate level or above in any BC Affiliated Club event or at Novice or above at any BC Regional or National event. An Introductory safety & competence Assessment is required before attending this event unless this has already been done or has have previous indoor experience.
Class 2 = Gateway Allcomers. Open to horse and pony, single and pairs. Ideal for those bringing on a new equine or combination, or for those that have been out of the sport for some time. Small equines and short format competitors are eligible too.
Pleaseure Drive. Then relax and enjoy a lovely pleasure drive around the beautiful tracks of Dummer Down Farm. Whether you’re a novice or an open driver, come along, meet other drivers and have a great day out!
This is also the third of four events in our Southern Carriage Driving Club Points Challenge at Dummer Farm.

The farm is not far from M3, just south of Basingstoke. With horseboxes, please access from A30, turning onto Duxford Lane – do not go through Dummer village. There are 2 entrances, please use the driveway signed “Dummer Down Farm”, not the entrance for the Cricket Centre.
There is a Cafe on site, open from 8am to 4pm.
